The Power of Muntinlupeño

Muntinlupeños are well known for being passionate and creative in many ways. We are one of the cities in the Philippines that are being recognized for being talented as an individual, a duo or as a group.

Some of the famous Muntinlupeños are Michael Christian Martinez, a Filipino figure skater; he is the 2015 Asian Figure Skating Trophy champion, a two-time Triglav Trophy champion and has won one ISU Challenger Series medal silver at the 2014 Warsaw Cup. Next is Gwendoline Gaelle Sandrine Ramos Ruais, a Filipina beauty queen who won Miss World Philippines 2011 and went on to represent the Philippines at the Miss World 2011 pageant in London, England, where she was placed as the 1st runner-up. Lastly, the dance group that competes inside and outside Muntinlupa, the Elite Pioneers of Muntinlupa City.

Hence, we still have a lot of personalities and performing groups that we still need to know and to recognize for their chosen passion.

Listed below are the groups that you might want to know, or you can be a part of.

First, Muntinlaya is a Spoken Word Community group that are performing for almost two years. They started the group February 2017 with only 5 members. At first their only goal was so simple, just for them to have a proper venue in Muntinlupa to express their feelings through words. After a year of performing in different cafés and public places, they also managed to recruit new young members, performed and teach the tip of Spoken Word Poetry to different Junior and Senior High School in the city, and conducted benefit shows and public gigs.

Secondly, if you love dramas, acting, play or any role playing, you can actually like the next performing group, the Bulwagang Hulagwaya theatrical group that is founded year 1993, by their founding member; Harold De Mesa, Michelle Dimapilis Lomboy & Evelyn Reyes Macasero. The group’s advocacy is to cater the teens/children’s theater program and it was supported by the City Government of Muntinlupa and their advisers, the late Councilor Roman Niefes and Councilor Nolasco Diaz. Today, Bulwagang Hulagway is actively conducting theater plays in different schools and in other cities, to promote the natural talents of their Muntinlupa homegrown artists. You might want to follow their social media page (Bulwagang Hulagway) to see their upcoming plays and if you wish to join their group just leave a private message on their Facebook and look for “Mr. Harold De Mesa.”
