The local government of Muntinlupa has started the distribution of relief assistance to families most affected by the enhanced community quarantine amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mayor Jimmy Fresnedi said grocery packages containing rice, assorted canned goods, coffee and sugar have been provided to households in Barangay Poblacion on Friday, the first day of distribution.
He also gave assurance that poor families from all barangays will receive their food assistance, stressing that the local government has ordered enough supplies to last three to four months.
“Hindi ito isang bigayan lang dahil sabi ko nga, three to four months worth of supplies ang ating paghahanda. Ibig sabihin, tuloy-tuloy ang pagdadala ng tulong hangga’t may banta ng COVID-19 sa komunidad,” Fresnedi added.
Food packages are brought to barangays, who distribute them “house-to-house” style in compliance with the government’s call for social distancing.
The city has also provided vehicles for the transportation of its health workers and frontline personnel, while tankers and fire trucks were deployed to disinfect streets and public spaces.
